wow

my dad is a dick. i have all 170 dollars in cash for my acl ticket which i have saved up all summer and i just need him to get them online w/ his card and i will pay him back. but since we're going to Colorado he's like "lets do it when we get back" and I'm like "um yeah i don't think they're going to last that long cause they never last until august" and he's like "blah blah blah bank balance blah blah Colorado" and i was like "DUDE I'll PAY YOU BACK" aaaaaaas;ilhga;wirhtv ;arldgkqpwotegop4796 SO ANNOYING I HATE THAT BITCH. he's so cheap like i have to convince him to buy a fucking pizza from papa johns. he doesn't care about anyone but himself....whenever we go to the lake its like "put sunscreen on so you don't get sunburned and your mom doesn't yell at me" which is like thanks dad, im glad that has priority over me.....it so annoying. i just want to go home and get a good nights sleep for once and get away from him and my brother.

you know how i got these scars?

so i saw the dark knight today.. and i made sure not to drink anything beforehand cause its two and a half hours long...everyone said how amazing it was so my expectations were pretty high, esp. for heath. the movie did not disappoint, and heath was exquisite. it was more like a drama than a fun superhero movie. that said, it definitely deserved its R rating. people said it was dark but i didn't think it was going to be THAT dark! also lol @ joker in the nurse's uniform. overall excellent movie, great acting from everyone. yay!

which brings me to

who's hot?? aaron is.

i think the last line of the song sums up the video..."i know there must be some way out of here, and all of them will be waiting there"

nice night

we went to carraba's and then down to waterloo records and i got the sunset album (yay) and this cool little zine that is somehow based out of Vancouver...it has illustrations by mitch clem so YAY. someone commented on my take off your pants button (i cant believe i havent lost it yet) and then we went next door and got some sweet ice cream and i identified some film holders you know the ones you put in enlargers and then we left since there isnt much to do in that area 9:30 at night. it was really cool to see the frost bank building all illuminated and stuff (somewhat) close-up....but not cool to see that fking tall condo lit up. I HATE THAT CONDO BUILDING! it brings more bad than good!

THE END.

Jerry Finn Has Massive Brain Hemorrhage

D: !! Producer Jerry Finn has worked with the likes of Green Day, Blink-182, The Offspring, Bad Religion, mxpx, AFI, and lately Moz. He has produced many a favorite album
...Taken from morrissey-solo.com

Jerry Finn is one of the good guys
He is one of my friends and a good friend to many of us
For those who don't know of Jerry
he mixed some Green Day hits, produced Blink 182 and Rancid and a bunch of good punk and most of all
he is one of the good guys
this week he suffered a massive brain hemorrhage

here is the email I received from our pal Mike Fasano
even tho I have known about this for 2 days
I waited until now to make it public
it is just crazy .... Jerry is just 38 years old ....
so, think good positive thoughts and prayers and lets hope Jerry pulls through

Subject: Jerry Finn update!

hey everybody!

sorry for the mass email update but this is a way to let everyone know how our friend Jerry is doing and will be a way to update his progress!

yes i said progress as you all know Jerry suffered a severe brain hemorrhage

this past thursday and was taken to Kaiser and has been since moved to Cedars Sinai.

Jerry is not in a coma but is unconscious and hooked up to life support. He is being cared for by dr. black. He is the best in his field just as jerry is at producing records! there is brain activity and he appears to be responding to touch! yesterday he opened his eyes and looked a me for 10 seconds! so with that being said they are running tests and monitoring and keeping him in stable condition. as it stands no news is good news and i will do my best to keep everybody up to date on his condition. despite what has happened to jerry he is fighting to survive this. i will pass info on to jenn and his sister karin and the family! we all thank you for your thoughts and prayers. the family requests that there be no visitors at this time. you can't send flowers but you can send cards so that they can be read to him! please respect the family's wishes so we can get jerry through this long road to recovery. mike

UPDATE ....

Subject: Jerry Finn and stuff

hey everyone,
just a quick note to let you know how jerry is doing as of late. dr. black is doing his thing running tests and kicking ass. despite jerry running a bit of a fever and having a bit of a cold which is all par for the course! he is hooked up to what is the equivalent all the latest versions of pro tools in here which you all know jerry isn't really a fan of the pro tools but these amazing machines with all the bells and whistles beeps and buzzers monitoring everything on jerry. i am sure he is wondering "where is the "TiVo" and the 7.1 digital sound flat screen that should be hooked into all of this set up some how!!!!!!!"

dr. black let us know that jerry is responding to some of the tests like asking jerry to look down to various questions like "is your name mark?" nothing from jerry "is your name jerry?" jerry looked down!!!!!!!!!! "are you at home?" nothing from jerry. "are you in the hospital?" jerry looked down again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but he also let us know that it can be a really long time before he does much more of anything maybe even weeks while the blood from the hemorrhage is absorbed into the brain a we can see more clearly the extent of the damage. we were also informed that the brain in some cases can repair itself but it just takes a really long time unlike a nerve or a broken bone. the dr also said that jerrys age is on our side! i know all of this info i am relaying to you is simple and i am a simple guy and this is just how i understand it. so we have a really long road ahead of us there won't be much to report all of the time it will be much of the same for weeks but it is really amazing to see him with his eyes open here and there thought out the day even if it is only for a few minutes. it gives us hope and thats all we have and all we can go on. the family and i thank everyone for amazing support through out this! also andy, mark and mio at jerry's management were super instrumental in getting jerry out of kaiser on friday and into cedars by the help of mio's friend Forest and Keisha Whitaker who got jerry a bed here a this amazing hospital.

crazy bus  on south congress. soco was so incredibly crowded that day. it was rediculoso.

angelo spencer @ mrs. bea's.  the coolest little venue ever. it was just a bar with a backyard and a million empty beer bottles. but it had some great music.

kimya dawson and the tiny masters of today....again at mrs. bea's. she told everyone to sit down for her set and she sung songs off of the juno soundtrack and some off of her new kid's album...she asked the crowd to make animal noises it was so awesome.

hahaha thank you zach

...old ranty thing

people who exclusively listen to old music (aka classic rock) kind of get on my nerves when they complain that there isn't any good music nowadays and stuff like that...when in reality there are a TON of current bands that are extremely talented, it's just that it's impossible to recreate what has happened in the past.....like twenty/thirty/forty years ago, an amazing band like journey (for example) was probably shoved down people's throats b/c of a big (record) label's long reaching arms. you dont see that now because big labels are a dying breed (or, to quote dan from prp! "a rotting carcass"), and epic bands like that cannot happen anymore....

ok well i forgot where i was going with that....in other news a new jimi hendrix album was uncovered and will probably be released sometime in the future. jimi in 2008? a crazy thought....

Mindfuck Enclosed

yay for holly's car b4 battle of the bands!

Rise Against! Fall Tour + New Album!

YESSSSSSS! FINALLY, Rise Againt is going back on tour for their new album! I went to their show last summer and it was hands down the best show I have ever been to...SO STOKED! Hopefully they will hit up Stubb's again.  From their Myspace blog....

That's right, our new record, Appeal To Reason, has been completed and will be released October 7th, 2008. As you may know, we have once again teamed up with our friends Bill Stevenson & Jason Livermore, who produced Appeal To Reason at the Blasting Room, along with their capable team of engineers. Bill & Jason are the genius' behind The Sufferer & The Witness and also the responsible for the re-mix of our first record, The Unraveling on Fat Wreck, as well as numerous other songs, including our recent cover of "Little Boxes" for the show "Weeds."

If that wasn't exciting enough, we've teamed up with some old friends for a fall tour and are hoping to bring it to your town. RISE AGAINST, ALKALINE TRIO, THRICE, THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM. We considered giving the tour some fancy name, but then realized that nothing looks or sounds as good as those four bands together, in our own humble opinion. See you this fall !

-Rise Against

Sunset

While at this year's Pecan Street Festival, I came across an intriguing band by the name of Sunset.  Fascinated, I searched the Myspace for their music page but came up with nothing.  Recently, I was looking over my CDs To Get sticky and the last name on there was the mysterious band, between quotations and followed by a question mark.  I decided to pursue them, and first went to Waterloo Records' web page, remembering that at one point in the past few months following the festival I had saw Sunset among the many artists that Waterloo Records advertises in the Austin Chronicle every week.  Fruitless, I continued to the Austin chronicle's website, determined to uncover a blurb or some trace of the band's existence. I found said blurb, but came to a dead end when i realized that I just wanted to find their Myspace account, listen to a few tracks, and consider if I really do want to get their CD.  With a new goal in hand, I straight up googled for them with my new found knowledge that they were in fact from Austin.  Finally after months of them lingering in the back of my mind and a few minutes on motivated interweb searching, Google lead me to them.
